Remote Study Tour - Fiji Islands
Cultural Understanding + International Experience + Real Social Impact = An Extraordinary Global Opportunity
Collaborate with Fijian students, academics, leaders and innovators in the Pacific Islands.
Across an exciting 2 weeks, you will explore Fijian culture, increase your global understanding, expand your skills and work in interdisciplinary teams to find solutions to global issues.
This program is open to Australian university students from all disciplines. There are no pre-requisites or prior experience needed.

Throw yourself into an experience, which challenges your cultural understanding, teamwork, creative problem solving, multi-disciplinary collaboration and project management and develop unique skills for your future.
It’s so important that you learn about Fiji’s unique way of life, its challenges and its goals for sustainable development before you dive into your project work. Explore live workshops, academic lectures and online content delivered by the Think Pacific team, our charity partners and some of our most successful alumni, alongside Live Q&A sessions and group discussion.
Working in groups you will consider unique challenges posed by influential organisations in Fiji, focusing upon the most pressing sustainability challenges facing Fiji. The purpose this project is to consider global challenges through a Fijian lens and align solutions to Fiji’s National Development Plan and broader global UN Sustainable Development Goals.
To deepen your learning experience, you shall finish the program by delivering a presentation of your design to key stakeholders, alongside completion of Think Pacific reflective, which means recording and critiquing your learning and increasing your self-awareness. You shall also receive feedback on your work and engagement in the program from your mentor and Fijian partners.
Here is our 5 ‘D’ process for your virtual program…
- Discovery – you learn about Fiji, your organisation, self-leadership and how your organisation supports Fiji’s National Development Plan.
- Discussion – engage in discussion local leaders and fellow students to deepen your understanding.
- Decide – decide which project you will focus on as you design solutions to Fijian specific challenges set by our partner organisations
- Design – create your project, including delivering a powerpoint presentation and submitting a report and resources
- Deliver – present your project to Fijian stakeholders and local leaders.
Here is an example itinerary (Timings are AET). Sessions are delivered by Think Pacific team and partners in the Fiji Islands.
This is an intensive programme, however, all sessions are recorded and can be watched around other commitments. Group work sessions are scheduled by students at a time to suit all.
