About Us

Our story

The inspiration for Think Pacific came almost a decade ago, as we left Heathrow for the farthest corner of the globe. We embarked on our own adventure of a lifetime, covering thousands of miles to the outer islands of Fiji.

After months of planning and poring over maps and guide books, we were leaving home with the strange anticipation and buzz of excitement you could only get from venturing into the unknown. Our experiences from then on were immense, and beyond anything we could have imagined. We became part of a way of life so unbelievably different from our own and we made friendships which would stay with us forever and re-shape the direction of our lives.

We've been exploring this remote island paradise ever since. You could say we're the Pacific professionals, the specialists of the South Seas, an authority on archipelagos or the connoisseurs of castaway island life!

Think Pacific was born out of our passion for the culture, customs, islands and people of the beautiful South Pacific. Our aim was to create a small and personal organisation, one which works with local communities and long term Pacific Island partners to provide the funding, planning and logistical support to achieve sustainable solutions to poverty issues and conservation objectives.

Through careful planning both in the South Pacific and through a graduate enterprise programme at the University of Leeds, we took almost seven years to craft and develop a unique model of 'Community Tourism' for the Fijian Ministry, directly in line with local government objectives for the Integrated Community Development Taskforce.

Since the launch of our first major project in July 2009, this model has achieved far reaching development aims across the Lomaiviti Province of Fiji; providing fresh water to remote communities, facilitating kindergarten and primary school education, promoting young enterprise and sustainable income generating projects for rural people and initiating sports development for island children.

We achieve our project aims by seeking the help of adventurous people like you. Think Pacific is only as good as the enthusiastic volunteers that represent us and the successes of Think Pacific and our local partners are very much our volunteer's personal successes as our teams strive to make an impact to the local aims as part of their gap years, career breaks or summer travels.

We hope Think Pacific sounds like your kind of adventure and we look forward to guiding you through the glorious islands of Fiji very soon.

It was incredible and just about the most memorable thing I may ever do. I cannot thank you and Harry enough. The work we did was just unbelievable.
